Establishing a Strategic Footprint for a global industrial manufacturer
Montell & Partners acted a strategic advisor for a global industrial manufacturer’s Global Manufacturing Footprint definition. The assignment included in-depth global analysis of the company’s worldwide capabilities together with a market analysis defining the most optimal set-up due to low cost and high demand.
The assignment also included the planning and preparation for the company’s Technology Transfer to China, based on the outcome from the Global Footprint analysis.
By identifying the company’s core competence span the first goal was to reduce the product range complexity. This made it possible to further identify the high volume parts from the low volume parts, standards from advanced products, etc., which was crucial to be able to define the real need of sourcing. The analysis was built up by key personnel interviews together with desk research.
As a part of the Global Footprint assignment, based on the new material and information generated from the project, the company had also decided to increase its presence and capabilities in China. Montell & Partners acted as the advisor and facilitated therefore the planning and preparations for the Technology Transfer. The transfer consisted of all preparations for ramping up the production at the Chinese site, including all from ensuring know-how to physical machines on site.
